Computer and Automation Research Institute of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA SZTAKI)This institute was founded in the early sixties as a research and development institution of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA). The Institute gained world-wide reputation in computer graphics, computer-aided design and manufacturing, process control, robotics, operations research, numerical methods, advanced information systems and networking. The Institute’s mission includes the transfer of up-to-date results and research technology to university students, industry and service sectors including SMEs. SZTAKI is also member of the World-Wide-Web Consortium. The Institute is a European “Centre of Excellence” in Information Technology, Computer Science and Control . The main activity of the System Development Department is in the field of research and innovative application of the newest software technology results. The research and development activity focuses on the modelling methods and tools promoting the interoperation of the distributed and heterogeneous systems in the following areas: Java components, healthcare systems, and intelligent agents. Some projects cover these areas: Web2Agent and Hospital Monitoring (national), and Agentlink, Prorec and Widenet (EU projects).
Szent Janos HospitalSzent Janos (Saint John's) Hospital, was founded in Hungary in 1893. More than 40,000 inpatients are treated yearly at Saint John's, and the number of outpatient examinations is close to 700,000. Clinical fields: geriatric, home care, rehabilitation, and other patient care services. Almost 800 nurses and medical assistants provide professional care for our patients. Saint John's is one of the teaching hospitals of the Semmelweis University of Medicine in Budapest. The department heads play a major role in domestic professional organisations, and continuously contribute to the ongoing process of medical reforms in Hungary.
